Evaserve - a meta-tool for evaluation and development of information services

Evaserve is a meta-tool for evaluation and development of information services which can be used by service developers and evaluation experts. Evaserve has been designed for evaluation of information services in the fields of transport and logistics, but it is suitable also for other information services. The tool has been used in the R&D projects focused on meteorological information services in Finland and other countries.

A comprehensive evaluation of an information service and systems behind it produces useful information, which can be used to develop new and more advanced services and to facilitate the launch of services needed by end-users and services beneficial to whole society.

The modular structure of the evaluation tool allows individual evaluations to be tailored according to customer needs and the nature of the service to be evaluated The tool contains several methods which can be used to evaluate the different aspects of the service. To the customer this means more developed evaluation methods and better evaluation studies. The contents of the modules can be easily updated. New modules can also be added and old ones removed when needed.

Evaserve has been developed by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. The following organisations have contributed to the funding of the project: Tekes (Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation), FMI (Finnish Meteorological Institute), Ministry of Transport and Communications, Destia Ltd. and VTT.
